What will I be doing?
Our Global Design Services Team (GDS) works with hotel Owner's consultants to elevate the design of Hilton hotel brands with specific brand positioning, commitment to sustainability and healthy environments to thrive, optimizing guest experience, and operational efficiency. GDS leads modifications to active properties and projected new build properties!
The Design Manager will support the Senior Director who oversees design for the Embassy Suites and Hilton Grand Vacations Brands. In this role, you will assist with design review and approval of hotels in the US & Canada, providing strategic recommendations to improve the inherent value of the hotel asset through elevated design, being mindful of budget and schedule, for conversion, renovation, and new construction projects.
Communication directly with hotel owners, operations teams, and design consultants is required.
This role supports collaboration cross-departmentally with brand, development, and Architecture & Construction teams to advance GDS design initiatives, Brand Narratives, and Design & Construction Standards.
More specifically you will:
Design Guidance & Project Evaluation – Time dedicated to the review of design for aesthetic alignment with the Brand Narrative, functionality, and compliance with standards, while guiding hotel owners and their design consultants. Projects will encompass desktop evaluations and occasional onsite reviews. Assist with coordination of schedules for virtual design review meetings.
Document Review – Independently and collaboratively review drawing and/or specification submittals for compliance with GDS and brand standards. Compose written recommendation and approval documents for internal and external publication.
Process Management – Assist consultants of owners and GMs with project registration, design submittals, issuance of design review documents, design re-submittals, and issuance of formal design approval letter.
Project and Document Tracking – Dedicatedly track and maintain accurate logs of active projects and manage the progress. Assist with communications and follow-up with internal and external partners for a variety of tasks and project needs.
Direct Support – Contribute to the ongoing maintenance and updates to Brand Narratives, Design & Construction Standards, and various design resources and communication tools. Assist with GDS and Brand initiatives.
Presentation Assistance – Assist with presentation preparations to senior executives and as needed for conferences & events and GDS team meetings.
What are we looking for?
We believe success in this role will demonstrate itself through the following attributes and skills:
Project management and organizational skills, including the ability to manage details through to completion and ensure objectives are met.
Successful collaborator, with excellent written and oral communication skills.
Experience and knowledge with hospitality interior design FF&E technical specification writing and evaluations.
High level of comprehension of architectural and interior design documentation with the ability to communicate graphically by developing diagrams and documenting reviews (e.g., Bluebeam, loose hand sketches, etc.)
Deep understanding of Microsoft Office Suite; (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
Experience working with Bluebeam and Adobe Suite.
Ability to solve problems effectively and creatively while maintaining a high level of professionalism and integrity.
To fulfill this role successfully, you should demonstrate the following minimum qualifications:
Three (3) years of architecture, or interior design experience with domestic Full-Service hotels or related field
Travel up to 25%
It would be helpful in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:
Five (5) years of architecture, or interior design experience with domestic Full-Service hotels or related field
Two (2) years of project management experience
Familiarity with Sketch-up, AutoCAD, or other 3D visualization software
Knowledge of accessibility, building codes, and technical requirements in hospitality architecture and design industry
Licensed architect or registered interior designer
BA/BS bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in architecture, Interior Design, or related field
